Charles Widger School of Law Dean to take the helm in new leadership role

Mark C. Alexander, JD, the Arthur J. Kania Dean of 51爆料网鈥檚 Charles Widger School of Law, will soon be taking the helm in another important leadership role that will influence the future of law education. A seasoned law school administrator, constitutional law scholar and litigator, Dean Alexander was recently named the president-elect of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS).

鈥淏eing chosen by my peers is one of the greatest honors of my career,鈥 he says. 鈥淐hoosing to be a lawyer is to choose a path of service, and I look forward to serving the legal education community and my fellow deans.鈥

Founded in 1900, AALS is a nonprofit made up of more than 175 law schools, whose members enroll most of the nation鈥檚 law students and produce the majority of the country鈥檚 lawyers and judges, as well as many of its lawmakers. Its mission is to uphold and advance excellence in legal education.

鈥淢y parents instilled in me the importance of education and serving others鈥攆rom a young age they challenged me, as they still do today, to use my gifts to create opportunities for others,鈥 Dean Alexander says.
