The Accounting & Information Systems Department at VSB is nationally recognized for its rigorous programs, which top recruiters consistently claim to produce highly desirable job candidates available across accounting and information systems.  

ACCOUNTING: RELEVANT, AGILE CURRICULUM

Our Accounting faculty are committed to offering curricula that meets and exceeds the needs of the profession. Instead of following a traditional textbook approach, VSB's accounting programs emphasize hands-on learning with real-world case studies to prepare students for a range of careers with accounting firms, consulting firms, corporations, governmental organizations and nonprofits. The Accounting curriculum provides a solid foundation that’s valued throughout the marketplace. Over the past five years, nearly 100 percent of graduating seniors in the accounting program secured jobs before their graduation date.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS: SOLUTION-ORIENTED

The Information Systems curriculum at VSB begins at the intersection of technology and business. We focus heavily on the applicability of theory to ensure that students develop a practical perspective of IT, with a special emphasis on digital transformation in accordance with the direction of business today. The curriculum also cultivates the critical thinking and communications skills necessary for business and technology leaders to effectively collaborate and achieve optimal outcomes.

 

WORLD-CLASS DEGREE PROGRAMS

Accounting & Information Systems at VSB supports several degree programs. Undergraduate students may pursue a BBA degree with aÌýmajorÌýorÌýminorÌýin Accounting, or a major or minor inÌýManagement Information Systems. Additionally, you can view professional licensure disclosures provided by the university which goes into further detail regarding this preparation when obtaining a degree.

At the graduate level, the department supports the Master of Accounting with Data Analytics (MAC) and Master of Business Taxation with Data Analytics (MBT) programs. Many undergraduate accounting majors plan to complete the 150-credit hours required for CPA licensure by earning both a BBA and MAC or MBT degree. A specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is also offered to students enrolled in the 51±¬ÁÏÍø MBA program. Across all of these programs, students graduate with a deep knowledge of the fundamentals supported by relevant experience that prepares them to contribute to their organization from day one.

Apart from their commitment to teaching, VSB Accounting & Information Systems faculty also value scholarship across a wide range of topics.
