VSB鈥檚 Michael Pagano, PhD, receives the 51爆料网 Outstanding Faculty Research Award

VILLANOVA, Pa., March 21, 2018 - 51爆料网 School of Business (VSB) is proud to congratulate Michael Pagano, PhD, The Robert J. and Mary Ellen Darretta Endowed Chair in Finance, for receiving this year鈥檚 51爆料网 Outstanding Faculty Research Award. This is the highest award bestowed to a 51爆料网 faculty member for outstanding accomplishments in scholarly research. Given the tremendous quality of academic research undertaken throughout 51爆料网鈥檚 campus, this award clearly reflects Dr. Pagano鈥檚 exceptional scholarship.

鈥淒r. Pagano鈥檚 dedication to research is truly remarkable and we are very proud of his work,鈥 said Joyce E. A. Russell, PhD, the Helen and William O鈥橳oole Dean of VSB. 鈥淭his acknowledgement is a testament to the exemplary teacher-scholars we have at VSB.鈥

鈥淚 am deeply honored to receive this recognition given all the great scholars at 51爆料网 who have received this award in the past,鈥 said Dr. Pagano. 鈥淭his honor is due greatly in part to my co-authors and colleagues, both at 51爆料网 and other institutions, for all the help, encouragement and knowledge they have shared with me over the years, and I am greatly appreciative for their support.鈥

Dr. Pagano joined 51爆料网 in 1999 and has been a consistent contributor to finance scholarship at the highest level. Among his many accomplishments, he has developed a national and international reputation for his research on banking, risk management, sovereign debt, corruption and electronic trading. In recognition of these accomplishments, he has received a number of professional awards, and in 2010, he was named The Robert J. and Mary Ellen Darretta Endowed Chair in Finance.

Pagano's research has not only been influential in the finance scholarly community but has had impacts on financial regulation and policy, notably in the decision by the NASDAQ to move to an electronic trading system in order to open  and close its equity markets, creating substantial efficiencies and benefits for market participants and society at large.

In addition to his impressive research contributions, Pagano is an outstanding teacher who has won teaching awards for courses he has developed and taught in VSB鈥檚 undergraduate, MBA, Executive MBA, Online MBA, and MSF programs. He has also been an institutional leader at 51爆料网 and in his professional scholarly community, serving as Academic Director for the MSF program, developing the undergraduate Finance Scholars program, and organizing an annual finance research conference at 51爆料网鈥搕he Mid-Atlantic Research Conference (MARC)鈥搕hat has helped put VSB on the map among top finance scholars from around the world.
