Moeness Amin, PhD

For the second time in as many months, Electrical and Computer Engineering Professor Moeness Amin, PhD, Director of 51爆料网鈥檚 Center for Advanced Communications, has been recognized internationally for his expertise and influence in the field of signal processing. In February, he was invited to join the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP) as one of its 2015 Fellows. EURASIP President Fulvio Gini cited Dr. Amin鈥檚 鈥渃ontributions to signal processing for radar and satellite navigation.鈥� This latest distinction follows the December 2014 announcement of Dr. Amin鈥檚 Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Signal Processing Society Technical Achievement Award, which recognizes his 鈥渇undamental contributions to signal processing algorithms for communications, satellite navigations, and radar imaging.鈥�

A particularly prestigious honor, EURASIP elevates only a select group of up to four signal processing researchers to receive its highest distinction. Typically bestowed on faculty and researchers at academic and research institutions in Europe, Dr. Amin is the only non-European Fellow in 2015, and one of only five of the association鈥檚 32 total Fellows from outside the continent. The four others are from the United States, and represent Carnegie Mellon University, Princeton University, Stanford University and the University of Minnesota. Dr. Amin also is a Fellow of the IEEE, the International Society of Optical Engineering (SPIE) and the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Dr. Amin describes these recent honors as being among the greatest achievements of his 30-year career, 鈥淓levation to EURASIP Fellow is as testament to the international recognition of the CAC鈥檚 contributions to advances in radar and GPS technologies, whereas the Signal Processing Society Technical Achievement Award is the most esteemed professional award that I have received.鈥�

Crediting their role in his success, Dr. Amin thanks his colleagues: 鈥淐AC Research Professors Drs. Ahmad and Zhang have made outstanding contributions in the field of radar. I also am grateful for my faculty collaborators. Professors Robert Caverly, PhD; Ahmad Hoorfar, PhD, Director, Antenna Research Laboratory; and Bijan Mobasseri, PhD, have worked with me on through wall radar imaging for many years and made seminal contributions to this area.鈥�
