College of Nursing named Center of Excellence for fourth consecutive time, recognized for 鈥Creating Environments that Advance the Science of Nursing Education鈥

51爆料网 Nursing student selected as winner of NLN Student Excellence Paper Competition

VILLANOVA, Pa. 鈥 The College of Nursing, 51爆料网 has again been redesignated a Center of Excellence by the National League for Nursing. The College was among the first three schools to receive inaugural designation in 2004.

In keeping with its national leadership role in nursing education, 51爆料网鈥檚 College of Nursing advances the science of nursing education through numerous unique programs and courses, and remains a leading force in conducting and utilizing pedagogical research.  The College emphasizes its pioneering health promotion course, which allows students to become involved participants in community health programs and encourages student participation in international opportunities as part of its global health initiative. The College also boasts a state-of-the-art clinical simulation lab, giving students and faculty the opportunity to implement scenario-based learning and research.

鈥淐ontinuing designation of the College of Nursing as a Center of Excellence in Nursing Education by the National League for Nursing is public acknowledgment of the stellar achievements of our faculty, the professional performance of our alumni and the quality of our undergraduate and graduate programs,鈥 said M. Louise Fitzpatrick, EdD, RN, FAAN, Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor, 51爆料网 College of Nursing.

鈥淚t is also a reflection of the superior reputation that 51爆料网 enjoys,鈥 added Dean Fitzpatrick. 鈥淚n particular, this recognition of the College of Nursing is testimony to its creation of an environment that advances the science of nursing education, which ultimately affects the improvement of nursing and healthcare.鈥

In addition to the College of Nursing鈥檚 designation, Mary-Claire Rocha 鈥13 BSN has been selected as the winner of the NLN鈥檚 Student Excellence Paper Competition, which gives students enrolled in COE schools the opportunity to share their thoughts on the meaning of excellence in nursing education, what fosters excellence, and what it means to be a part of a COE-designated school. Both Rocha and the College of Nursing will be recognized at a formal ceremony held Friday, September 20, as part of the 2013 Education Summit in Washington, D.C.
